We recently secured planning approval for two contemporary New Build houses within Wargrave on Thames in Berkshire.
The scheme received more letters of support than objections and was fully supported by the Local Planning Authority which is a testament to the design and also the collaborative process with both the client, planning department and local neighbours.
We were commissioned by a young family to design two new dwellings on a large plot within Wargrave on Thames. The first dwelling is to be the main dwelling for the family and the second to accommodate extended members of their family.
We have worked very closely with the family and also the Local Planning authority to develop the design to be similar and reflective of the existing Arts and Crafts style that is depicted largely within the vicinity of the site. Plus to ensure the proposals were in keeping with planning law whilst maximising the potential of the site.
The main family home to Plot One combines a contemporary style with cues from the Arts and Crafts movement with a practical floor plan that will express function with regards to the needs of modern family living. The dwelling will be constructed of traditional red brick, slate roof and timber cladding to ensure that the property will be in keeping with the neighbouring houses within this area of Wargrave. We are also looking to adopt low energy principles with increased levels of insulation, green technologies and modern methods of heat generation.
The second dwelling depicts the same use of materials and styling as the main house but with a modest yet contemporary floor plan. Each dwelling will be highly detailed and an exemplar modern architecture.
