This project in Wandsworth, London involved the complete refurbishment and conversion of a traditional London Victorian terraced family house. The majority of the streetscape is residential terraced housing with a large number of the properties having been subject to redevelopment, however we were able to introduce more light and volume than most plus increase the total area of the property to its maximum.
The redevelopment of the property involved the formation of a new single storey side and rear extension to the kitchen including new rooflights, a two storey rear extension with mansard addition and a new rooflight, French door additions to the loft conversion.
The new house creates a feeling of light and space to the existing property in terms of its massing, character, aesthetics and all the proposed materials and techniques are intended to create an excellent standard of accommodation.
The massing of the proposed extensions were designed to maximise the floor area allowed under current planning law with the new single storey rear and side extensions designed to be modern in design and detailing with new glazed rooflights offering a clean and precise addition to the existing dwelling.
Externally the rear garden was designed to create separate seating and eating areas to offer the opportunity of outdoor living.
